Currently, I am a Research Group Leader at the University Hospital at Tübingen, and I am leading the team of “Hyperpolarized Metabolism and Molecular Imaging”. I have supervised/trained/mentored several high-school, undergraduate and graduate students. So far, my scientific work has produced 36 publications in scientific international journals as well as some prestigious awards. The research interest of my group is directed towards understanding the physicochemical, biochemical and biological properties of the next generation of non-invasive metabolic sensors for application in translational biomedical and clinical sciences. We wish to translate new technology in vivo and validate imaging biomarkers relevant to severe abnormal metabolic diseases as, cancer senescence, diabetes, neurodegeneration, cirrhosis, inflammation, and kidney failure. The multidisciplinary research of our lab combines advanced multimodal, multiparametric and, state-of-art hybrid imaging that allows for accurate detection of disease and predict response to personalized therapies.
