Currently, Viviana Ribeiro is a Researcher at Centro de Biotecnologia e Química Fina (CBQF) performing research centered in the valorization of agro-food by-products and green biotechnology-based solutions for biomedical applications in the field of skin care. The analysis of her research shows that her background follows 3 main topics: i) Natural-based biomaterials development and valorization through the exploitation of their biological potential; ii) Materials functionalization and characterization in the context of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications; iii) Cell culture design for in vitro grafts validation and assessment of biocompatibility properties. Her scientific innovation reflects in 4 granted patents (WO2018/215997 A1; WO 2018/025186 A1;WO 2021/038507 A1; WO 2022/029739 A1), 1 PCT (PCT/IB2024/056438), author of 25 publications in scientific Journals in the field (>Q1), 8 book chapters, 2 Journal Special Issues and 58 publications in international/national conferences (26 oral and 32 poster presentations). She also participated in 26 international/national scientific meetings in the field. Being corresponding author in 17 publications in important scientific Journals (>Q1) and books, she collaborated with >60 authors and co-organized several editions of the Annual Scientific Meeting "Term Stem". With an h-index of 16, her proficiency resulted so far in more than 1300 citations(Source: Google Scholar) by more than 800 citing articles (Source: ISI WoK). She is reviewer for more than 30 Internatinal Journals in the field (>Q1) and some with high IF (e.g. ACS Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering). Guest Editor of two Special Issues from Materials (https://www.mdpi.com/si/37667) and Pharmaceutics (https://www.mdpi.com/si/65652), and co-Editor of the hot Research Topics "Sustainable Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine" from Frontiers in Materials and "Woman in Biomaterials Science 2024" from Frontiers in Biomaterials Science. Her editorial contributions also include: Topical Advisory Panel Member (Pharmaceutics, MDPI), Review Editor and Guest Associate Editor (Frontiers in Biomaterials Science and Frontiers in Materials). Throughout her career she has been involved in the mentoring of works of ungraduated, MSc and PhD students. Currently, she supervises 5 MSc student and 2 PhD student with research activities in the scope of her developed research line. Since October 2022 she is Invited assistant professor at Escola Superior de Biotecnologia, Universidade Católica do Porto (ESB-UCP). She was awarded with the Technological Innovation, Mobility and Industry Award from Amélia de Mello Foundation in collaboration with COTEC Portugal (3rd Edition), with the project "ReSkin - Reuse of an acellular rabbit dermal matrix as a bio-substitute of human Skin", and recently she was awarded with a Junior Research contract from FCT in the scope of Individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus - 6th Edition, with the project "FENIX- FEaturing the valorizatioN of an agro-food by-product: rabbit skin as a matrIX for treating burn wounds". Her research interests and ambitions are focused on sustainable development and by-products valorization applied in biomedicine.
