Andrea Chacón Calderón completed her Bachelor's degree in Chemistry in 2018 by the University of Costa Rica. From 2021 to 2023 she was part of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) in Functionalized Advanced Materials and Engineering (FAME+ Master), obtaining the degree of Master in Chemistry by the University of Aveiro and Master in Materials Science and Engineering by the Grenoble Institute of Technology (Grenoble INP). She attends the Doctoral Program in Chemistry at the University of Aveiro (PT). As part of her masters degree, she did an internship at the MiNT laboratory of the University of Angers (FR), working on microfluidic formulation of drug delivery systems. She did the masters thesis research as part of Team Specko at the University of Aveiro (PT), where she used a multi-disciplinary approach to study the interaction of antimicrobial peptides with membrane models. Previous to her graduate studies, she was researcher at the National Nanotechnology Laboratory of Costa Rica (LANOTEC), and worked as a research assistant for the analytical chemistry section at the National Center for Food Science and Technology of Costa Rica (CR); her work in the latter resulted in an Open Access publication.
