Raquel A. Martins was born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1995. She received the M.Sc. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Universidade de Lisboa, Lisbon, Portugal, in 2019. She is currently a PhD student in IST working on the topic of breast cancer detection using microwaves. During her time in IST, she has been studying different programming languages (e.g. C, Phyton, Matlab, Mathematica, etc) and learning different software and hardware. She finished her master with a grade of 19/20 on the final dissertation with the topic of "interference cancellation receivers in device-to-device networks ". She also stayed one-year abroad working at Intel, in an R&D multi-cultural team, in Aalborg, Denmark. During this time, she submitted three invention reports which lead to the publication of a patent, used in today's smartphones. She considers herself as a proactive, fast-learner and responsible person. Her main interests include microwave imaging, antennas, machine learning and algorithms.
