Arthur Macedo is a PhD student at the Botanic Garden of the University of Coimbra, Portugal, focusing his research on phylogenomics, biogeography and taxonomy of the orchid subtribe Angraecineae (Vandeae: Epidendroideae) in Tropical Africa, using the genus Rhipidoglossum Schltr. as the main focus. He holds a degree in Biology (2016-2020), and a Master's Degree in Biodiversity (2020-2022), both at the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, Recife, Brazil. His previous research experiences as an undergraduate student (2016-2020) in botany (Taxonomy and Systematics of Angiosperms), concerns the monography of Loganiaceae in Northeastern Brazil, at the Laboratório de Morfo-Taxonomia Vegetal (MTV-UFPE). He defended his Master's dissertation on the Taxonomy and Palynology of the genus Spigelia L. (Loganiaceae), describing several palynological patterns with unprecedented systematic value for the genus. His major interests are Plant Taxonomy and Systematics; Botanical Nomenclature; Palynology; Plant Anatomy; Plant Evolution; Molecular Phylogenetics; Cytotaxonomy and Chromosome Evolution; Bio and Phylogeography; Geometric and Linear Morphometrics; and Biology of Climate Changes.
