Obtained her PhD in Sciences (Mathematics) in 2004 supervised by J.R. Torregrosa and A.M. Urbano (Technical University of Valencia, Spain), her MSc in Mathematics in 2002 from the University of Coimbra and her BSc in Teaching of Mathematics in 1997 from the University of Minho. She is an Assistant Professor at the University of Minho. She works in the area of Mathematics, particularly on Pure Mathematics, having published 20 articles in specialised journals. She supervised a doctoral thesis in mathematics educations and is co-supervising a doctoral thesis in mathematics (matrices and graph theory). She has also supervised master thesis in matrix theory, graph theory and visual recommendation systems. She has held various management roles, including being a member of the School of Sciences council, a member of the research center CMAT's directive committee, and the head of studies for the MSc in Mathematics and Computation.

This problem has a wide range of applications, from physics to computer science, from chemistry to statistics. This activity is a BYOD activity in which participants are able to view, using their mobile phone cameras, an exhibition with poster/screen images in the format of Rubik's cube pixel mosaics and with information about the "butterfly effect" and the impact of maths on meteorology. In this activity we propose the collective construction of a mosaic in Rubik's cube pixels of a portrait by Edward Lorenz. Each participant will be invited to reproduce a piece of the pixelated image on one of the faces of a Rubik's cube with the aim of collectively forming the complete image at the end of the day.
