Juliana Oliveira Fernandes graduated in Biology by the University of Porto, Faculty of Science (FCUP, 2020) where she started his scientific career, working with plant essential oils and phytopathology, focusing on their antimicrobial potential, at Professor Conceição Santos Laboratory (iB2) (https://www.ib2lab.com/) (BSc. intern report). Afterwards, she got a Master degree in Functional Biology and Plant Biotechnology by the Faculty of Science, University of Porto (FCUP, 2022) performing her Master¿s Dissertation at iB2 Lab, studying the antimicrobial and elicitor potential of Mentha pulegium and Satureja montana essential oils as biocontrol tools against Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae in in vitro kiwifruit cv ¿Hayward¿ shoots, where she used molecular, physiological and analytical chemistry techniques. Currently, she was awarded a PhD fellowship financed by the FCT. In parallel, Juliana worked on several projects, having previously been awarded with two scholarships integrated in the STOP.SUZUKII and OmicBots projects. Moreover, she collaborated in the project EOIS-CroProt, studying the use of numerous essential oils as a management tool for a myriad of tomato phytopathogens. Additionaly, she worked on other scientific projects specifically on GESPSA-KIWI, studying the impact of photoselective nets in kiwifruits photosynthetic battery and in more 3 ongoing inter(national) projects. Juliana is an integrated member of the Associated Laboratory LAQV-REQUIMTE in the (Bio)Chemistry & Omics group since 2021. Juliana has participated in 3 scientific international conferences as an invited speaker, having received a merit award in one of them. She also presented her work at 1 scientific national conference. Globally, she participated in 5 research projects, 4-national and 1-international. She is the author of one scientific research article (IF=6.7) and a co-author of a review article (IF=16) and of a book chapter.
