Nuno HCS Silva is a doctoral researcher at CICECO - Aveiro Institute of Materials, University of Aveiro (Portugal) working on the development of innovative bionanocomposites based on natural polymers and protein nanofibers for biomedical and green technology applications. He is currently involved in the project NANOBIOINKS, developing engineering bio-based nanofibers inks for 3D bioprinting. Nuno is the author/co-author of 23 SCI papers published (h-index: 12, total citations: 619, co-authors: 68), in international peer reviewed high impact journals (e.g. Biomacromolecules, Carbohydrate Polymers, Green Chemistry and Journal of Materials Chemistry B), 16 of which (ca. 70%) were published in Q1 quartile journals. He is the first author of 48% of the papers (12 SCI papers). Additionally, he has currently 2 SCI papers in preparation. Nuno HCS Silva is also the author/co-author of 17 oral communications and 31 poster communications in national and international conferences. According to Publons, he has peer reviewed 28 SCI papers in high impact journals (e.g. ACS Nano, Carbohydrate Polymers). He has already supervised 6 BSc students and 1 MSc student, having currently 2 Bsc students under supervision. He has been participated as a volunteer supervisor during the periodic visits of students from Portuguese High Schools to the Chemistry Department of the University of Aveiro, as well as involved in several dissemination & promotion events of scientific knowledge and culture. He is a member of the European Polysaccharide Network of Excellence (EPNOE) and has been part of the organizing team of the EPNOE Conference 2019. Since 2018, Nuno is delivering classes in Interpersonal Communication and Presentations and Communication in Science at University of Aveiro. Since 2019, Nuno is involved in teaching activities in Chemistry with practical Lab classes at University of Aveiro. Along with the scientific background, Nuno is fully passionate about leadership and personal development, being a soft-skills trainer and coach, in which Nuno has already delivered an extensive number of training hours around Europe. In 2012, Nuno was a trainer at the Youth Trainers Academy and he has represented Portugal at the European Public Speaking Championship in 2013, taken in Budapest (Hungary). Invited several times as presenter and moderator, he was the host of TEDxUniversityofPorto in 2015. Proactive and dynamic, he was always involved in several organizations and projects such as BEST and Toastmasters International, and his best experience was backpacking across Eastern Europe. Sportsman by nature, he is challenged by trails, marathons and triathlons, in addition to roller hockey. Nuno considers traveling around the world, the greatest source to develop ourselves.
