Susana Milão is currently an Assistente Professor at Portucalense University - Department of Architecture and Multimedia Gallaecia (DAMG) . Architecture degree in the Faculty of Architecture - University of Porto concluded in 1995. Internship in the Historical Center of Porto (CRUARB-CH) with Rui Losa and Paula Silva under the guidance of Alcino Soutinho. FCT grant holder, Master's Degree in Rehabilitation of Heritage (University of Coruña, 1996) and equivalence to Portuguese Master's degree (FEUP) in 2006 with the thesis ¿The Creative City and the models of urban regeneration, for a critical analysis of the Urban Rehabilitation Societies"; Conclusion of the Doctoral Course - Architecture: Theory, Project, History Faculty of Architecture, University of Porto, July 31, 2009; Doctoral thesis by the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (July 10, 2014) with the title: ¿Mercado-praça¿ in the city. The transformation of space and place of exchange in the case of Portuguese architecture¿, under the guidance of Prof. Doctor Marta Maria Peters Arriscado de Oliveira. Collaborated with architects João Carlos Santos and JJ Garcia, among others, emphasizing collaboration in the rehabilitation project Tibães Monastery, the study of new urban centrality of Vizela; housing projects (PER) in Maia, single family dwelling and commercial places, etc.. As a liberal professional participated and highlighted the 1st place in the public competition for the urbanization of the area of Calheta - Ponta Delgada - Azores in 1998. In 1999 integrated AICART, an artistic association from Porto) and took part of the Board Direction. Responsible for several initiatives highlighting the project, Espaços interactivos, integrated in Porto 2001, European Capital of Culture. Between 2003 and 2008 has member of ESAP´s Academic Direction Board (Higher Artistic School of Porto) and from 2009 until 2015 was a member of CESAP Direction, cooperative of Higher Artistic Education of Porto (non-profit public utility institution, owner of ESAP). From April 2015 until 2017 she was Director of the Architecture Department of ESAP. Developed activity as a researcher being responsible for the project : IEPPE, Interventions in the Public Space, permanent and ephemeral (ESAP/2013/P09/TRV) and was a member and integrated researcher of the Architecture and Design Research Laboratory (LIAD) of ESAP. Since 2004 forms part of a multidisciplinary collective - www.ideiasemergentes.pt- developing activities of curatorship and management in the cultural area such as Regenlab (investigation laboratory and practices connected to the urban regeneration), Contextile - Contemporary Textile Art Biennial (Guimarães, European Capital of Culture, Porto 2012), etc. She´s equally, responsible for the area of services in the Architecture domain, highlighiting the Museology projects of Caminha, Maia, Almada and Bragança. She achieved funding for National (Dgartes, Caixa Cultura) and European projects (Cultura 2000, Creative Europe, Youth in action Programme).
