Bruno Misson Mori Barbosa

Bruno Barbosa holds a degree in Geography, specializing in Geographic Information Systems. In 2021, he completed a master’s degree in Geographic Information Systems and Territorial Modeling Applied to Spatial Planning at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning – University of Lisbon. His master's thesis, titled “Automatic Detection of Vegetation Cover Changes in Urban-Rural Interface Areas,” was developed as part of the foRESTER project (Data Fusion of Sensor Networks and Fire Spread Modelling for Decision Support in Forest Fire Suppression). In 2022, he began his Ph.D. at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning, Center for Geographical Studies, with a fellowship funded by FCT, focusing on “Wildfire Exposure in the Rural-Urban Interface Related to Land Use and Land Cover Dynamics.” Since January 2023, he has been an associate researcher at the Center for Geographical Studies (CEG), working within the Environmental Risk Assessment (RisKam) research group. From 2023 to 2025, he participated in the Change4Fire project (Modelling Landcover and Climatic Changes for Wildfire Hazard Assessment in Future Scenarios), contributing to the areas of fire risk management, wildfire exposure assessment, and social vulnerability using GIS, geocomputation, and remote sensing. His current research interests include Geographic Information Systems, remote sensing, exposure assessment, social vulnerability, wildfires, and spatial modeling.
