Bruno Barbosa holds a degree in Geography, specializing in Geographic Information Systems. In 2021, he completed a master’s degree in Geographic Information Systems and Territorial Modeling Applied to Spatial Planning at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning – University of Lisbon. His Master's thesis was titled “Automatic Detection of Vegetation Cover Changes in Urban-Rural Interface Areas” and was developed under the project “foRESTER - Data Fusion of Sensor Networks and Fire Spread Modelling for Decision Support in Forest Fire Suppression.” In 2022, he started his Ph.D. at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning, Center for Geographical Studies, with a fellowship funded by FCT on the theme “Wildfire Exposure in the Rural-Urban Interface Related to Land Use and Land Cover Dynamics.” Since January 2023, he has been an associate researcher at the Center for Geographic Studies (CEG) in the research group on Environmental Risk Assessment (RisKam). His current research interests are linked to Geographic Information Systems, remote sensing, exposure assessment, social vulnerability, wildfires, and spatial modeling.
