Dr Stefania Savoi developed her scientific career in Europe and abroad, in institutes of excellence in Italy, Canada, Austria and France. She obtained a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Agro-Industrial Biotechnology (2009 and 2011) from the University of Verona (Italy) and a PhD Degree in Agricultural Sciences and Biotechnology (2016) from the University of Udine in collaboration with the Fondazione Mach, Italy (mentors: Castellarin, Mattivi, Peterlunger). During her PhD, she spent 8 months at the University of British Columbia (Canada). In her PhD, she evaluated the effect of drought on the grape berry metabolism during ripening with a multi-disciplinary approach that considered two-years field trials, high-throughput transcripts profiling (RNA-Seq) and large-scale targeted metabolite analyses (LC- and GC-MS) in white and red grape varieties. In 2016, she moved to the Division of Viticulture and Pomology of BOKU in Austria (mentors: Forneck, Griesser) for her first post-doc to study the causes of the physiological berry ripening disorder berry shrivel. She also analysed transcriptomic differences between two grape phylloxera lineages. In 2018, she moved to France at the Institut Agro, Montpellier (mentors: Torregrosa, Romieu), for her second postdoc to study the dynamic of sugars/acids accumulation in single berry grape during ripening by performing transcriptomics analyses on the phloem unloading cessation. She also studied the ozone treatments impacts on microvine grape berry and leaf. She published 8 peer-reviewed articles in journals, and 1 book chapter; two more articles are currently under review. She participated in 7 event(s). She Co-supervised 1 PhD thesis(es) and 2 work(s) of course completion of LSc/BSc. She has received 2 awards. COST granted her two training schools (one in Toulouse in 2013 and one in Valencia in 2020) and recently (Oct-Nov 2020) one short term scientific mission (STSM). Her strengths are multi-tasking skills and multi-disciplinary technical knowledge. She operated autonomously in the above-summarized research projects, scheduling and performing treatments and grape sampling, transcriptomics and targeted metabolomics analyses, omics data analysis and integration, and drafting the manuscripts. She is a well-organized person, detail-oriented and hard-working, and she fit in an international team. She works in the area(s) of Agrarian Sciences with emphasis on Agriculture, with emphasis on Viticulture. In their professional activities interacted with 53 collaborator(s) co-authorship of scientific papers. In her curriculum Ciência Vitae, the most frequent terms in the context of scientific output are Grape; Ripening; RNA-Sequencing; Transcriptomics; Metabolomics; Water deficit; Secondary metabolites.
