Researcher, IoT programmer and developer at Wave Labs (https://wave-labs.org), an R&D group for crafting marine technologies of MARE - Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre, hosted at the Regional Agency for the Development of Research, Technology and Innovation (ARDITI) in Madeira Island. Informatics Engineering Master's Student at the University of Madeira (UMa) with professional technical training and several years of experience in Electronics and Telecommunications. Currently, I am responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining marine sensing devices and surveying systems with logging and telemetry capabilities using IoT and associated technologies. Within Wave Labs, I was responsible for the development of custom low-cost marine biotelemetry capable of performing data logging in high-depths (>1500m - 150 bar) environment for the INTERTAGUA - Interfaces Aquáticas Interativas para Deteção e Visualização da Megafauna Marinha Atlântica e Embarcações na Macaronésia usando Marcadores Rádio-transmissores, with grant no. MAC2/1.1.a /385 by Programa de Cooperación INTERREG V-A España-Portugal MAC (Madeira-Azores-Canarias) 2014-2020. Produced tag (TRITON) was based on Long-Range (LoRa) communication and was used as a proof of concept on marine megafauna (sea turtles and greater whales), reaching the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 5-6. TRITON has been used with a custom-made telemetry pipeline based on assisted GPS and pseudoranging, allowing marine scientists to interpret the position of the tags at the sea surface. It has also been demonstrated in Macaronesia Islands (Madeira, Canary, Azores and Cabo Verde) as well as in two conferences, the International Symposium of Marine Sciences (ISMS) and European Cetacean Society (EC).
