• Ana Luísa Maulvault is a Marine Biologist specialized in Fisheries and Aquaculture (MSc degree, Faculty of Sciences and Technology, University of Algarve, FCT-UALG) and holds a PhD degree in Environmental Sciences and Sustainability Studies (Faculty of Sciences and Technology, NOVA University of Lisbon, FCT-NOVA). • Currently, she is an Assistant Researcher at IPMA I.P. - Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere, where she was appointed Head of the Live Marine Organisms Laboratory – LABVIVOS and Member of the Animal Welfare Committee (ORBEA). • She is an Integrated Researcher at UCIBIO - Applied Molecular Biosciences Research Unit and an Invited Professor at FCT-NOVA. She is also an Invited Lecturer at FCUL in the framework of the curricular units “Marine Aquaculture Techniques” and “Complementary Studies in Marine Ecology”. • She is a member of the Portuguese Society for Laboratory Animals (SPCAL) and of the Portuguese Pact for Plastics, collaborating in 2 working groups. • She has participated in 26 R&D and Transnational Cooperation projects funded by national (FCT I.P., Mar2020, PRR) and European (FP7, FP6, H2020, EFSA, EEA Grants, Interreg) agencies, and is the Principal Investigator of the FCT Aqua-CLIMADAPT - Eco-innovative solutions for aquaculture adaptation to climate change challenges and PRR VIIAFOOD – NEWPACK projects. • She authored 5 book chapters, 67 scientific papers and >90 conference presentations, most of which devoted to Aquaculture, Seafood Safety and Environmental Stressors Effects in Marine Fish Physiology. • She is an Associate Editor at "Frontiers in Marine Sciences", and Invited Reviewer of >10 international journals. • She organized 8 Knowledge transfer/ Outreach Activities (3 courses, 1 summer school, 2 open science activities for the general public, 3 workshops/conferences and 1 exhibition). • She supervised 3 PhD students (ongoing=3; main supervisor=2), 8 MSc students (ongoing: 5; main supervisor: 6), and several undergraduate/bachelor students. • Her main Research Lines are: 1) Climate change effects in marine ecosystems and seafood safety; 2) Emerging contaminants toxicology; 3) Marine fish Physiology and stress biology; 4) Climate-smart aquaculture.

Warmer seawater temperatures are expected to increase harmful algal blooms (HABs) occurrence, intensity, and distribution.
