Ana Margarida Colaço Rodrigues (AMR) has been working in Metabolomics, namely plant and food metabolomics, using mass spectrometry-based approaches. Her Ph.D. in 2022 contributed to the metabolomic characterization of maritime pine differential response to pinewood nematode infection. In addition, Ana has a Master in Cellular Biology and Biotechnology (2011) and a Licenciatura in Biochemistry (2007). Currently, AMR is a post-doc researcher at IBET in the analytical characterization of natural products and bioactives. AMR is currently involved in one PRIMA project in the chemical characterization of Mediterranean rice varieties, and two PRR-funded projects in the chemical characterization and valorization of olive oil and related by-products. Prior to her Ph.D. Ana was involved in three FCT-funded projects as a master research fellow in the area of plant metabolomics and analytical chemistry. To date, AMR has published 25 articles in peer-reviewed journals, 6 conference papers, and 3 book chapters. Has received 4 awards and/or honors. Her h-index is 12 and her publications have ca. 307 citations (Scopus, February 2024). She contributed with 26 national and international congress presentations, 3 of them oral. In her professional activities interacted with 100 collaborator(s) co-authorship of scientific papers. Active collaborator with the Centre of Excellence in Mass Spectrometry (University of York UK) in several short stays at this institution for instrument access. Keywords: Metabolomics; Plant Metabolomics; Forest Tree Metabolomics; Food Metabolomics; Analytical Chemistry; GC-TOF-MS; Metabolite Profiling; Metabolite Quantification; Method development and validation; HPLC-DAD-FL-ECD; LC-QqQ-MS/MS; GC-MS; Volatile Profiling; Essential Oil Profiling; Statistics; Multivariate analysis; R packages; Data Analysis.

Plants (2022): High-throughput omics technologies have revolutionized the way science is performed, by generating a large amount of biological data for a broader coverage and better understanding of biological mechanisms. The integration of these omics technologies (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics, ionomics, and redoxomics) is currently in the forefront of plant research. As sessile organisms, plants are constantly challenged by environmental stress conditions and resort on adaptative responses to ensure survival and reproductive success. These environmental stress conditions include abiotic and biotic stress factors that often occur simultaneously in field conditions. A multi-omics approach allows understanding the biochemical mechanisms that underly plant resistance and response to adverse environmental conditions, from genotype to phenotype. This includes the integration of multi-omics data into biological networks for the identification of stress responsive traits that can be further applied towards plant breeding, and more productive and climate resilient crop varieties. This special issue is dedicated to omic approaches using state-of-the-art high-throughput equipment to explore plant responses to environmental stress conditions. In an environment that is rapidly changing, particularly in the current climate change scenario, manuscripts dedicated to improving our understanding of plant responses to single or combined environmental stress are welcome..
