Carlos Chirinos

Carlos Chirinos holds a PhD in Anthropology and Communication from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV, 2021), a Master's degree in Medical Anthropology and International Health (URV, 2015), and a degree in Social Anthropology (Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2010). He was a Margarita Salas Postdoctoral Fellow (2022-2024) at Oxford Brookes University and the URV. He currently awards a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow (2024). He has participated in qualitative studies of care and health in rural areas of the Spanish Mediterranean, as well as the Andes and Peruvian Amazonian. His main research lines are based on the experience of illness and disability, the cultural construction of gender and kinship, long-term daily care, and the processes and meanings of ageing. He has been a member of the URV research team for Spanish R&D projects: the ALTERCARE project (2024-2027), the RETCOV project (2022-2025), the CAREMODEL project (2021-2024), the CUMADE project (2020-2021), and the GENDERCARE project (2018-2021).
