Her research interests have transitioned from saltwater to freshwater to soil, consistently focusing on (eco)toxicology. She holds a BSc degree in marine biology (2003, Iran). In 2012, she moved to Portugal to begin an MSc on the toxicity of nanoparticles on aquatic larvae, followed by a PhD in ecotoxicology and environmental biology from the University of Aveiro, Portugal, which she completed with distinction and merit in 2022. Her PhD was part of the NanoFASE project (Nanomaterial FAte and Speciation in the Environment; Horizon 2020), providing her with substantial experience in ecotoxicology and environmental biology research. Her research focused on the toxicokinetics of silver nanoparticles in various soil biota, including soil invertebrates and plants, culminating in four published papers from the thesis and four additional papers in collaboration with international project partners. Her PhD included collaboration with Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam under Prof. Dr C. van Gestel's supervision, where she developed metal measurement skills using atomic absorption Spectrophotometry and toxicokinetic modelling. She also received training in developing data templates and curating datasets for depositing data in the NIKC-CEINT Nano Informatics Knowledge Commons, which required expertise in delivering FAIR data. In her first postdoctoral fellowship position in the Department of Materials and Ceramic Engineering and CICECO as part of the NATURAL project, she worked on applying layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanostructures as a crop fertiliser. In her current postdoctoral position with the TRUESOIL project (EJPSoils), her work focuses on studying true soil organic carbon (SOC) sequestration, specifically on understanding trade-offs and dynamic interactions between SOC stocks and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for climate-smart agri-soil management. She has gained valuable experience in fieldwork, such as GHG sampling, microclimate probe data analysis, and laboratory methods, including soil organic matter fractionation, FTIR, and DSTGA. She has published 17 articles in collaboration with international partners or various research groups at the University of Aveiro, mostly in high-impact journals, with some papers highly cited, including a review paper as senior author in Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety (IF= 6.2) that has been cited 447 times placing it in the 98th percentile of citations in SCOPUS and one book chapter. These contributions have broadened her perspective on environmental topics and research methodologies. Notably, 69% of her publications are in the top 10% of journals by CiteScore (SciVal), and 18% are among the top 10% of the most cited publications worldwide (SciVal). She has participated in key international conferences (e.g., SETAC, ISMOM2024), and served as the main supervisor for an MSc student. Regarding societal impact, 29% of her articles have been cited by policy documents in Europe and Canada.
