Currently, Auxiliary Researcher at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa - Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas, ICNOVA (NOVA's Institute of Communication), conducting research on media and health literacy in Portugal (ongoing study: Media and Health literacy in Portugal: The role of TV in the mediation of public understandings of health care and of navigating the Health Care System. FCT/MCTES - UIDP/05021/2020). Completed PhD in Anthropology of Complex Societies in 2009 by ISCTE-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, 4-years Licentiate Degree in Anthropology in 2000 by ISCTE-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa and BSc Nursing in 1994 by Instituto Politécnico de Leiria Escola Superior de Saúde. Works as researcher since 2004. Received funding from national and international agencies and awarded various grants. Experienced in national and international interdisciplinary projects, as collaborator, team coordinator and leading researcher. Lectured, taught and mentored international graduate, master, and PhD students, contributed as a jury member, external examiner, and served on scientific committee boards as well as reviewer for various international journals, offering expertise. Works in the area(s) of Social Sciences with emphasis in Anthropology and interdisciplinarity, media and socio-cultural communication and recently also in health sciences. The persistent commitment with ensuring inclusive decision-making in science, made participatory research into a recognized mark of her work. Reflecting the interdisciplinary scope of research stand and interests, has published in a number of books and peer-reviewed journals, across scientific fields, with a recent focus on Health and Society journals, as per research agenda.
