Maria De La Salete Beirão Valente was born on the 17/05/1966 in Castelo Branco and obtained her degree in Medicine (Licenciatura) at the Faculty of Health Sciences of University NOVA of Lisbon between 1984 and 1990. She obtained her medical specialty in Pneumology in 1999, having performed her medical internship in Pneumology in the Coimbra Hospital and Universitary Centre (CHUC) between 1993 and 1999. Since 1999 she is the Director of the Pulmonology Service of the Cova Da Beira University Hospital Center (CHUCB). She is Senior Graduated Assistant since January 2016 and also Invited Assistant professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Beira Interior. She is member of several boards such as the Direction of the College of Pulmonology of the Medical Order, the Advisory Board of Novartis Oncology, the Portuguese Lung Cancer Study Group and the Scientific Committee of the Centro Pulmonology Congress. Author and co-author of 9 scientific papers published in peer-reviewed national of international journals, she was the Principal Investigator of several clinical trials, some of which related to NSCLC. She was also moderator of numerous discussion tables at various national congresses and presides the 9th Pneumology Congress of Centro.
