Diana Gomes obtained BSc and MSc degrees in Biotechnology from the University of Beira Interior in 2017 and 2020, respectively. In September 2020, Diana Gomes had a 4 month-stay in Istituto Nazionale Tumori Regina Elena, Roma, to develop a traineeship entitled HPV: new diagnostics and therapies. Currently, she is a Ph.D. student in Biochemistry and also detains an FCT (Foundation for Science and Technology) individual doctoral fellowship. The focus of her Ph.D. project is to develop a therapeutic strategy for cervical cancer exploring potential inhibitors/blockers of HPV-16 oncoproteins by in silico and in vitro studies and the characterization of E6 and E7 oncoproteins. During the last 5 years, she developed a solid background in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and proven experience in several laboratory techniques, namely in nucleic acid/protein expression, Akta for biomolecule purification, Western blot, PCR, and mammalian cell culture. Diana is the first author of 7 full papers in international peer-reviewed journals with an h-index of 5 (Scopus). In total, she is the author or co-author of 11 full papers in international peer-reviewed journals and 1 1 book chapter. She received 7 awards/distinctions, supervised/co-supervised 7 BSc students, and gave non-official supervision to several students during their BSc and MSc. Moreover, she is frequently involved in pedagogical activities, being a tutor in practical classes from the MSc in Biotechnology (2021-current). Besides, she collaborated in the organization of scientific events and several science dissemination activities to non-scientific audiences (e.g. projects with high school students).
