Andreia Rebelo is an invited Professor at the School of Health, Polytechnic of Porto (ESS|P.Porto) and a researcher at UCIBIO (the Research Unit on Applied Molecular Biosciences) and the Associate Laboratory i4HB, at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto. She graduated in Environmental Health (2009), obtained a master’s degree in Environment, Hygiene, and Safety (2012), both at the ESS|P.Porto, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology and Contamination from the University of Porto, obtained through a research fellowship (ref. SFRH/BD/137100/2018) awarded by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia. Throughout her career, has been deeply engaged in academia, serving as an invited Assistant Professor in the degree of Environmental Health at ESS|P.Porto since 2010. Her research spans interdisciplinary domains, drawing from Public Health, Environmental Microbiology, and Hygiene and Food Safety. Currently she has been working on metal and acid tolerance of Salmonella and Enterococcus spp. from diverse ecological settings, particularly within the context of the food chain and environmental reservoirs. Over the last 5 years she published more than 10 journal articles, two in a top 10 journal in the Environmental Sciences category (STOTEN; JCR-WoS) and has showcased her work at over 20 national and international conferences, demonstrating her commitment to knowledge dissemination and exchange. Also, her outstanding contributions to the field have been acknowledged through the receipt of 6 awards and honors. Beyond her research endeavors, she has actively contributed to the organization of academic and scientific events, as well as collaborative research projects. Her technical expertise encompasses classical microbiology, molecular methods for bacterial identification and typing, and bacterial genome analysis techniques.
