Ivan de Vasconcelos Costa Pêgo da Silva concluded his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics in 2020 and his Master's degree in Mathematical Engeneering in 2022, both in the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP). His master’s thesis specialized in cryptography, more specifically Homomorphic Encryption (HE). The work developed consisted in the study and implementation of a Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) scheme. Between October 2022 and October 2023, he received a research scholarship from the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (IPP) to enroll in the CYBERSecurity SciEntific Competences and Innovation Potential (CyberSecIP) research project. During this period, two scientific papers were published. One in a specialized journal, which granted all authors a distinction from IPP, for publishing in high quality journals, and the other is a conference paper, which was presented by Ivan in DPM’s workshop in ESORICS 2023. Moreover, the former paper was presented in the event Workshop CyberSSECCIP. In October 2023, he enrolled in the PhD in Computer Science, also in FCUP, and began researching for the Research Group on Intelligent Engineering and Computing for Advanced Innovation and Development (GECAD). Since then, he has been exploring the topic of Hybrid Homomorphic Encryption (HHE), which is a primitive that seeks to reduce the computational cost of HE by combining it with other less expensive solutions, such as Symmetric Key Encryption (SKE), having several interesting applications, such as ensuring privacy-preserving solutions in Artificial Intelligence (AI).
