Aaron L. Beek received his doctorate in Classical and Near Eastern Studies in 2015 from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, and holds prior degrees from The University of British Columbia and Macalester College. He is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at North-West University. He has published 4 articles in journals (+1 forthcoming), 4 chapters in books (+4 forthcoming) 9 book reviews, and 5 magazine articles. He has organized workshops and conferences and delivered 29 oral presentations at conferences in 6 countries. He is an interdisciplinary scholar working in both Classical Studies and Ancient History. His current research focus is banditry, piracy, and other forms of illegitimate violence.
