Angelica Bartoletti is a conservation scientist with working experience in academic, museum and private conservation workshop environments and expertise in conservation treatment strategy development, analysis of artworks and artist materials. Angelica holds a PhD from University College London (UCL) in Scanning Probe Microscopy applied to Heritage Science for the characterisation of collagen-based objects (parchment and leather) and their degradation behaviour at the nanoscale. She participated in several national and international EU-funded projects as a PhD candidate and postdoctoral fellow and has long-term experience working with several partners with different backgrounds and areas of interest (scientists, conservators, curators, manufacturers and suppliers). Besides her work on analysing artists' materials, her research interests include assessing the impact of traditional and innovative conservation treatments for cellulose, collagen-based artefacts, modern and contemporary materials (paints and plastics), with a focus on cleaning strategies. She has various publications demonstrating her competencies in these areas, and she is currently serving as Guest Editors for the Special Issue "Cleaning and Conservation" of the open-access journal Heritage Science.
