Davide martins is a PhD student (plants for life PhD program at ITQ), at the genetics and genomics of plant complex traits laboratory (Carlota Vaz Patto’s lab) and supervised by Maria Carlota Vaz Patto (ITQB-NOVA), Susana Araújo (ITQB-NOVA) and Diego Rubiales (IAS-CSIC). In 2015 he concluded the master degree in Plant biotechnology and biodiversity at the University of Coimbra, faculty of sciences and technology. From 2016-2017 he was a research fellow at the plant cell biotechnology laboratory (Pedro Fevereiro’s lab). For his PhD project, he’s focusing on the biotic interactions between Lathyrus sativus and powdery mildew (Erysiphe pisi) and rust (Uromyces pisi) causal pathogens. While characterizing a grass pea germplasm collection response to powdery mildew and rust diseases, he aims to increase the current understanding of disease reaction in the mentioned pathosystems and identify new sources of resistance. The project has been developed in collaboration with IAS-CSIC Cordoba, Spain
