My academic journey began in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Agronomy at the University of Évora (UÉ), where I obtained a final grade of 13. Following that, I pursued a master’s degree in Agronomic Engineering, also at UÉ, which I completed in 2022 with an average grade of 16. During the second year of my master's degree at UÉ, I was integrated as a Bachelor Research Scholar in the project “SOIL4EVER - Sustainable use of soil and water for improving crops productivity in irrigated areas," for which I wrote my dissertation titled “Efeitos das alterações climáticas sobre a salinidade do solo: modelação de caso de estudo no regadio do Roxo" and had a final grade of 18. During the project, I had the opportunity to work with research teams from both UÉ and the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in Lisbon. I primarily worked with models that predict water and salt vertical movement in the soil, allowing for the assessment of soil salinization risk in specific plots. As part of the project, I participated in the IX Congresso Ibérico das Ciências dos Solo held at INIAV, where I delivered an oral presentation on a portion of the work I developed in the project. The presentation was titled “Avaliação do balanço de água e de sais no solo em três culturas permanentes do perímetro de rega do Roxo”. The SOIL4EVER project also resulted in four articles published in journals, with three as a co-author and one as the lead author. In May 2023, I was awarded a master’s research scholarship within the VINE&WINE project – "Driving sustainable growth through smart innovation" (SUB-PROJECT – B6.3 PPP4Vine), where I have been evaluating the effect of various phytopharmaceutical products on the soil microbiome and macroinvertebrates at the Laboratory of Plant Virology & Laboratory of Mycology at UÉ. During this project, I had the opportunity to participate in the “Encontro de Estudantes de Doutoramento em Ambiente e Agricultura," where I presented a poster titled “Conventional vs. organic agriculture farming: are there stress-responsive genes linked to grapevine trunk diseases in different vine varieties?” Additionally, I participated in the II MED Meeting - Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment, and Development of the University of Évora, where the laboratory I work in won the award for best display. Being integrated into a laboratory composed of a multidisciplinary team has allowed me to broaden my horizons beyond my academic background. Currently, as a scholarship holder at UÉ, I have submitted an article on March 25, 2024, that has been approved for publication, titled “Organic vs integrated production agriculture farming: identification of stress-responsive genes towards sustainable grapevine protection.” In pursuit of further professional development, I engaged in supplementary training through an e-learning course titled "Sparkle - Course Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Precision Agriculture," focusing on precision agriculture methodologies and practical experiences in workshops featuring innovative equipment like the Baco system that allows the identification of diseases through vine leaves and Doctor Vida equipment that identifies pathogens through qPCR technology.
