Lucas Carvalho holds a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Porto and is currently pursuing a PhD in Civil Engineering. His doctoral research focuses on developing innovative substructure solutions for prefabricated bridges, aiming to streamline construction processes while ensuring resilience against earthquakes. At the moment, Lucas is fully dedicated to his doctoral studies, having previously worked as a research fellow on a project assessing the structural integrity of historic buildings near the Porto subway construction, and prior to this, as research fellow on a project regarding the development of innovative solutions for precast railway bridges, directly aligned with his PhD thesis. Throughout his doctoral studies, he has already published six scientific articles, mainly related to his current research area. Additionally, he has previous experience in building projects, with three years of work in a structural engineering office in São Paulo, Brazil.
