Ana Paula Mucha (PhD 2002) é investigadora no CIIMAR, Universidade do Porto, Portugal, sendo membro da Direção e Investigadora Principal da equipa ECOBIOTEC-BMS (Bioremediação e Micróbios para a Sustentabilidade). É também Professora Auxiliar Convidada no Departamento de Biologia da Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto. Centra a sua investigação na relação entre microrganismos e contaminantes, visando o desenvolvimento de tecnologias de biorremediação para a recuperação de ecossistemas e sustentabilidade ambiental. Neste contexto tem explorado a utilização de consórcios microbianos para a bioaumentação de solos, sedimentos e águas, contaminados por hidrocarbonetos derivados do petróleo e metais. Tem também explorado associações entre microrganismos e plantas, incluindo fungos micorrízicos, para biorremediação de misturas de contaminantes em solos e sedimentos. Tem também estudado o impacto de diversos contaminantes sobre os microbiomas autóctones e sobre comunidades de macroinvertebrados, incluindo anelídeos. É autora de ca. 95 artigos SCI, incluindo revistas de alto perfil na área da Biotecnologia Ambiental. Esteve envolvida em diversos projetos regionais, nacionais e internacionais, tendo coordenado vários projetos na área da Biorremediação. Atualmente coordena a participação do CIIMAR no projeto europeu “BIOSYSMO - BIOremediation systems exploiting SYnergieS for improved removal of Mixed pOllutants” (GA no. 101060211).
