Susana Brás is a researcher at the Institute of Electronics and Informatics Engineering of Aveiro (IEETA), University of Aveiro, Portugal. She has a background in Applied Mathematics, with a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, and she completed a postdoctoral research in Computer Sciences mainly focused on the data science field. Her main research goal is the development of environments adapted to the person, to accomplish such goal she studied models able to quantitatively describe patterns, mainly focused on parameter free data mining, information theory models and machine learning. Until now, she was dedicated in study the person and his/her reactions to society and specific situations (affective computing). Notwithstanding, she is now also interested in study the environment where the person is inserted to adjust the context to the person's needs to achieve a better life quality. The description of such context will lead to constraints associated to class imbalance, noise, artifacts and missing values, topics already in study by her research team. She supervised several master and Ph.D. students. She has 49 scientific publications (indexed in Scopus) in renowned peer-reviewed international journals and conferences, and 224 citations (Scopus). She gave several invited talks in diverse contexts and interviews in general media.
