Catarina Seiça Neves is currently a Junior Researcher hired under the Scientific Employment Stimulus - Individual Call 2017 (CEECIND/01975/2017), at CICECO - Aveiro Institute of Materials. She obtained her MSc degree in 2009 and, after being awarded with a PhD grant from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, she completed her European PhD in Chemistry at the University of Aveiro in the end of 2014. During her PhD, she had additional trainees activities at Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Spain and The University of Alabama, USA. After finishing her PhD, Catarina Seiça Neves was the co-coordinator in an industrial partnership project funded by SCJohnson (USA) aiming to design new ILs for detergent formulations. Due to the confidentiality of the results obtained, these were never published. From the end of 2015 up to early 2019, she worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Universidade de Aveiro, supervised by Prof. João Coutinho and Dr. Mara Freire, seeking new ATPS with ILs for the fractionation of complex mixtures of polysaccharides and amino acids. Early in 2020, she co-coordinated a project with the company Mistolin, with the goal of developing a new degreaser to remove carbonized soil at lower pH. In the past she was team member of 6 another funded projects. National and international collaborations confirmed by publications with more than 90 different co-authors provided her with new knowledge, while resulting in 51 published manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, 15 as first author, 1 as corresponding author and a book chapter. This includes publications in reference journals with high impact factor, namely Green Chem. (3), J. Phys. Chem. Lett. (1), Energy Storage Mater. (1), Adv. Sci. (1) and Adv. Healthc. Mater. (1). Her research work and commitment to science is reflected in over 4,000 citations and an h-index of 31. In addition, she presented her work in several international meetings, contributing with 12 oral and over 67 poster (4 awarded) communications. Additionally, she was part of the organizing committee in 2 international conferences and participated as a trainee in an international workshop of ILs. Due to her recognition in the scientific community, Catarina Seiça Neves also periodically give her contribution on reviewing manuscripts to journals like Chem. Data Collect., J. Chem. Eng. Data, J. A garantia é dada por uma equipa de investigação do Departamento de Química (DQ) da Universidade de Aveiro (UA) que, com a descoberta, abre as portas ao desenvolvimento de processos mais eficazes e sustentáveis de separação e de purificação numa vasta gama de produtos, recorrendo unicamente a solventes não-voláteis. A descoberta acaba de ser anunciada no último número da revista The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters, um dos mais importantes jornais científicos na área da Química-Física.
