Philipp Hofmann is an Affiliated Researcher at the Centre for History of the University of Lisbon. He received his PhD in History (2023) from the University of Lisbon and his MA in Medieval and Modern History (2018) as well as BA in History (2016) from the University of Leipzig. His main area of research is the early modern history of West Central Africa and the Atlantic World with a focus on the intersections of religion, colonization, land dispossession, and slavery.
