Ana Isabel Tomaz is presently an Assistant Professor of the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department of Faculdade de Ciências, ULisboa (Portugal) and an integrated research member at Centro de Química Estrutural - Faculdade de Ciências. She completed her 'Doutoramento' in Chemistry in 2003 by Universidade de Lisboa, Instituto Superior Técnico, and the 'Licenciatura' in Chemical Engineering - Applied Chemistry in 1995 by Universidade Técnica de Lisboa - Instituto Superior Técnico. She works in Exact Sciences with emphasis on Inorganic Chemistry. Her research interests are focused on the development of metallodrugs for therapeutic application, and in the last years her research has been directed to the development of ruthenium-based compounds as prospective cancer chemotherapeutics.
