Tânia Morais is an FCT-Tenure Assistant Researcher at Centro de Química Estrutural of Instituto Superior Técnico Ulisboa (CQE-IST). She obtained her degree in Chemistry (2007) by Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (FCUL), where she also completed a master's degree in Chemistry with a specialization in Chemistry, Health and Nutrition (2008). Tânia Morais got her PhD in Chemistry with a specialization in Inorganic Chemistry (2013) from the University of Lisbon developing ruthenium organometallic compounds for cancer therapy. In 2013 she started a postdoc at Instituto de Medicina Molecular, Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa and Centro de Química Estrutural, Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, where she developed peptide-metal conjugates for targeted therapy. In 2014 she was honored by the Portuguese Chemical Society with the prize "Portuguese Young Chemist Award". In 2015, Tânia was a visitor postdoc researcher at Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB), Barcelona, Spain under a Marie Sklodowska-Curie project, which allowed her to acquire important know-how in peptide synthesis. In 2019, Tânia won a contract in the frame of the CEEC Individual 2017 program and started independent research at CQE-FCUL where she develops smart metal-peptide conjugates for targeted therapy, merging her know-how in organometallic chemistry with her expertise in peptide chemistry. In 2023, she was promoted to Assistant Researcher through CEEC Individual 5th edition program again at CQE-FCUL. Tânia Morais is co-founder of a FCUL proto-company named "HATIcancer". She has so far authored 42 papers (18 as senior corresponding author) published in international peer-reviewed journals, with ˜75% of them published in Q1 specialized and multidisciplinary journals, 12.2% in TOP10 journals (7.3% in TOP5); 6 book chapters; 8 conference proceedings; and 5 inter-/national patents. The recognition of her work has resulted in several invitations to give talks at inter-/national conferences, including 2 plenary and 2 keynote lectures. Her publications have garnered over 1150+ citations (Scopus) and she has an h-index of 21 (Scopus). In addition to her research activities, she has supervised 2 postdoctoral researchers, 2 Ph.D. (1 ongoing), 12 M.Sc. students (4 ongoing), 21 B.Sc. students (5 ongoing), and 4 international exchange students. Aside from her research activities, Tânia also held academic roles. She was co-coordinator of the B.Sc. in Chemistry at FCUL (2020-2023), and also a member of this course's pedagogical committee during the same period. Over the past decade, she has been deeply involved in teaching several courses in the disciplinary areas of Chemistry and Biochemistry for both undergraduate and Master's programs. She has also developed two new curricular units. Tânia has been a member of the Communication and Image Committee of CQE IST-FCUL since 2020. From 2023 to 2025, she also served on the External Image Commission of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (DQB) and the FCUL Image Commission. Between January 2024 and March 2025, she was a member of the Executive Commission of CQE at FCUL and the coordinator of the CQE-FCUL Communication and Image Committee. Since September 2024, she has been serving as co-coordinator of the MEDlife Thematic Line at the Associate Laboratory IMS.
