Ana Carolina Magalhães has a bachelor on Bioengineering - Biomedical Field attributed by Católica-Porto - Catholic University of Portugal and a MSc on Biomedical Engineering from Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto (FEUP). Her research interests include: Biomedical image analsysis and processing, specially infrared medical images; Implementation of machine learning algorithms and its application to thermal data; Biomedical applications of infrared thermography (IRT). Until recently, she was a research fellow at INEGI - Institute of Science and Innovation in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, studying the use of IRT on the assessment of upper-limbs musculoskeletal disorders. Currently, she is part of the "Simplified" project research team, studying biomaterials citotoxicity for an orthodontic implant. During the last year of her bachelor she was a junior research at the Bioanlytical lab of the CBQF-Escola Superior de Biotecnologia-Católica Porto. This experience gave her laboratory expertise and interpersonal skills that allow her to easily work in a research environment. The elaboration and presentation of several academic assignments and the collaboration in different scientific articles have granted her the ability to easily communicate in english in an oral and written form.
