RESEARCH INTERESTS: My professional interest is evolution and the mechanisms generating locally adapted populations, ecotypes and species. A main focus in my research is the study of adaptation over environmental gradients and the evolution of barriers to gene flow under divergent selection. In my studies I use marine organisms, such as snails of the genus Littorina (periwinkles) and seaweeds of the genus Fucus (wrack). In collaboration with colleagues, I apply genetic and genomic tools, field and laboratory experiments, and modelling. In 2008, I initiated CeMEB - The Linnaeus Centre for Marine Evolutionary Biology research centre, which is funded by the research councils VR and Formas (2008-2019). The centre has provided 8 new reference genomes and more than 500 publications on marine evolutionary biology (Please visit www.cemeb.science.gu.se). PUBLICATION RECORD: I have authored and co-authored 132 peer-reviewed journal publications, 6 peer-reviewed book chapters and one edited book. I am first or last author of 3/4 of these papers indicating major involvement. Web of Science (23 Jan 2020): 4800 citations, h-index 42, 1 highly cited. Google Scholar (23 Jan 2020): 7007 citations, h-index 49, i10 index 112. Mean number of citations per item is 38 (WoS) and 52 (GS). Ten of my 1st or single-authored papers are cited >100 times each (WoS). >500 publications for which I am NOT listed as co-author are the result of large research projects/programmes with me as principle investigator (Marbipp, BONUS-BaltGene, BONUS-Bambi, CodS, CeMEB).
