Vânia Castro obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and a Master’s degree in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Minho. Following her graduation, she joined the Chemistry Center of the University of Minho as a researcher. In 2016, she collaborated on the Cover.ed project, focused on developing edible films for food applications, in partnership with Primor, Charcutaria Prima, and the Chemistry Centre of the University of Coimbra. Later that year, she became part of the 3B’s Research Group, contributing to the DESZYME project. In 2017, she started her PhD in Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine, and Stem Cells (TERM&SC) at the 3B’s Research Group, University of Minho. Her work focused on synthesizing small molecules and peptides, developing supramolecular systems for biomaterials, these systems in cell culture models for regenerative medicine. She represented PhD students in the I3Bs Unit Council. As a result of her research work, Vânia Castro is 8 first-author papers and co-authored 9 additional publications in international peer- reviewed journals. Furthermore, she is co-author of one patent. She has actively participated in the organization of scientific conferences and has been involved in several collaborative research projects. Among them are the Twinning project "Chem2Nature," and "EcaBOx" both funding by the H2020 Program of the European Commission, and the "RePark" project, supported by the M-ERA.NET funding. Her experience includes the support and guidance of students, which has significantly contributed to her professional growth. Additionally, she has been responsible for the organization and management of the chemistry laboratory, overseeing both laboratory operations and the maintenance of various scientific instruments.
