María Villa, PhD in agricultural science and biologist, currently serves as an auxiliary researcher at the “Observatório de Montesinho” – CIMO/SusTEC. She has been investigating at CIMO since 2010. Her expertise lies in investigating biodiversity drivers, including ecological infrastructures, landscape structure and trophic interactions. She brings valuable knowledge in landscape ecology, pollen analysis, botany, entomology, and advanced statistical analysis of complex data sets. She also acts as investigator in several research and dissemination projects such as LIFE SILFORE, Experienciar Montesinho, NOVATERRA, PRE-HLB, OLIVESIM or XF-ACTOR. Her academic contributions are substantial, mainly in Q1 journals, along with supervising master`s students and participated in various juries for academic degrees or research grants attribution. She has supervised multiple manuscripts and participate as guest and onboard editor for peer-viewed journals. In the “Observatório de Montesinho”, María Villa is committed to the research about biodiversity and climate change in mountain areas, particularly of Montesinho Natural Park.
