Oscar Dias is an accomplished professional with a dynamic role as an Auxiliary Researcher at the University of Minho since 2016. In this capacity, he passionately imparts knowledge in Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, and the Modeling of Biological Processes. Simultaneously, Oscar holds the position of CEO at OMNIUMAI, a forward-thinking company providing cutting-edge solutions in Artificial Intelligence and Data Sciences. As an academic, Oscar brings a wealth of expertise with a background in Biological Engineering, an MSc in Informatics, and a PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering. Elected to the Scientific Steering Committee of the Center and invited to join the Scientific Steering Committee of the Department, Oscar actively participates in shaping the academic landscape. Currently, he serves on the Steering Committee of the master’s in bioinformatics at the University of Minho, further demonstrating his commitment to advancing education and research. As a proficient investigator, Oscar has led as Principal Investigator in one short project and is actively engaged in four ongoing research projects, contributing to a total of approximately 16 projects throughout his career. His academic output includes over 50 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and book chapters. A mentor and guide, Oscar has supervised two PhD theses (1 pending defense) and currently supervises five and co-supervises three, with a remarkable track record of successfully guiding 40 master's dissertations and overseeing the progress of 17 more. Recognizing his outstanding contributions, Oscar has been honored with three prestigious awards. Oscar's research endeavors encompass Bioinformatics, Machine Learning, Systems Biology, and Biotechnology, fostering collaborations across Denmark, Germany, The Netherlands, Spain, the UK, USA, among others.
