Gonçalo Pereira completed his integrated master’s degree in veterinary medicine in 2013 at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Lisbon. The dissertation focused on the topic 'Ultrasonographic study of certain aspects of ovarian dynamics in holstein friesian cows subjected to various ovulation induction protocols’. Devoted the following 3 years to clinical work with livestock species, particularly cattle, and completed an Internship in Livestock Medicine at Westpoint Farm Vets in Leighton Buzzard, United Kingdom. In 2017, joined the Reproduction and Development Laboratory at CIISA, where conducted the research that led to a Doctoral degree in Veterinary Sciences from FMV/UL in 2022. The PhD thesis was entitled 'Cytological endometritis in dairy cows: New developments in pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment,' received unanimous approval with Distinction and Honors. From 2023, is serving as an Assistant Professor at FMV/UL and is currently a resident of the European College of Bovine Health and Management (ECBHM). Primary research interests include improving bovine health and fertility through nutrition, as well as unraveling the mechanisms of inflammation persistence in the endometrium and mammary gland of postpartum dairy cows.
