José Pedro Correia Dias has successfully completed the first year of his Ph.D. in Design at the University of Lisbon, Faculty of Architecture, during the academic year 2022/2023. His doctoral research is centered on the development of coral artificial reef solutions utilizing parametric design principles and a sustainable design approach. In 2019, he obtained a Master's degree in Design and Product Development, and in 2016, a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design from the School of Design at the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave. Presently, he serves as a Product Design Researcher at the University of Minho's Laboratory for Landscape Heritage and Territory, contributing to the "INOV.AM - Innovation in Additive Manufacturing" project. Additionally, at the University of Minho, he held a research position from 2020 to 2021 in the "EasyRide: Experience is everything" project (POCI-01-0247-FEDER-039334). In 2018, at the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave, he worked as a researcher on the "ECOBOND: Development of new adhesives with isocyanate microcapsules for the footwear industry" project (POCI-01-0247-FEDER-017930). He is a co-author of the scientific publication titled "Development of a Microfluidic Device to Encapsulate Isocyanate for Autoreactive and Ecological Adhesives - IOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, Volume 520, Issue 1, pp. 012007(2019)," resulting from his contributions to the Ecobond project. Regarding the EasyRide project, he collaborated as a co-author on the production of eight patents in the field of autonomous driving. These patents cover areas such as meditation applications with haptic feedback capabilities for in-vehicle displays, book reader/audiobook apps for level 5 autonomous vehicle haptic feedback displays, capacitive haptic feedback surfaces on armrests for in-vehicle control interactions, capacitive armrest smart surface keyboards, web browser applications with haptic feedback capabilities for level 5 autonomous vehicle displays, children's edutainment applications for level 5 autonomous vehicle haptic feedback displays, haptic and thermal feedback smart surfaces, and a 2-Wheeler fatigue mitigator vest.
