Hugo Ribeiro (HR) is a BSc (2007) and MSc (2008) in Environmental Sciences and Technology by the Sciences Faculty of the University of Porto. During his MSc dissertation, HR was also a fellowship researcher in the RACEWAYS project at the Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR). HR obtained his Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences (2013) from the Biomedical Sciences Institute Abel Salazar (ICBAS) - University of Porto. 2015 From 2014 until 2019, HR worked as a lab technician at CIIMAR, although HR was unemployed for some periods. In 2015, HR was a visiting researcher at the National University of Ireland, Galway under an STSM of a COST Action. From 2018 until 2020, HR was a Postdoctoral Assistant at CIIMAR under the scope of the UNNOWN project and a visiting researcher at ICBAS. HR was unemployed during the Covid pandemic (2020 to 2022), nevertheless, HR had the opportunity to visit the King College of London as a visiting researcher. After two years unemployed, in 2023, HR was hired as a Postdoctoral Assistant by the University of Thessaly in Greece. In the scope of the collaboration of the project ActionR, HR was a visiting researcher at the University of Viena and the Ecole Central de Lyon. HR has 12 publications as the first (and corresponding) author and 6 publications as co-author in peer-reviewed international journals. HR also has 1 conference paper as co-author; 3 book chapters (1 as the first and corresponding author), and 7 International peer-reviewed proceedings. HR is the inventor of a patent application for developing a prototype to capture microbiomes. At International conferences, HR has 17 oral communications and 23 posters communications. HR also participated in organizing conferences and worldwide campaigns; supervising and jury of BSc dissertations; Ad-Hoc reviewer; and member of scientific associations. HR was also involved in outreach activities within the BIOMAR project and the University of Porto dissemination activities.
