Rita Alexandra Silva Moreira completed an integrated master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Coimbra in 2016, where she obtained a final grade of 13.3. In addition to the internship reports in hospital pharmacy and community pharmacy, Rita developed a monograph entitled "Nosocomial infections and bacteria involved in this type of infection", under the supervision of Dr. Olga Cardoso (https://orcid.org/0000-0002- 8902-0213), in which she obtained a classification of 17. In 2021 Rita completed a second master's degree in molecular and cellular biology at the University of Aveiro, with a final grade of 18 values. Rita wrote her dissertation entitled "Upconversion nanoparticles for photothermal therapy and drug delivery in melanoma cells" under the project "HOTsPOT - Novel upconversion nanoparticles for multimodal therapy of melanoma: pHOtothermal Therapy, Photodynamic therapy, and chemotherapy" (POCI01- 0145-FEDER-031794), under the supervision of Doctor Helena Oliveira (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4673- 0696) and Doctor Verónica Bastos (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9882- 4766), obtaining a final classification of 19. The work developed allowed him to acquire skills in terms of cell culture and work with nanomaterials and photothermal therapy. Working and studying at the same time endowed her with skills such as organization and time management, as well as a great sense of responsibility and resilience. Currently, she is a PhD student at Metatissue working on the development of a physiologically relevant platform to study cardiotoxicity and cardiotherapeutic drug effects in vitro by combining human-based biomaterials and human cells. This involves the integration of human-based biomaterials and human cells. Specifically, she will utilize a human-based complex mixture of proteins and growth factors that can be crosslinked to form hydrogels with controllable mechanical properties, thus overcoming the limitations of current platforms. Within this matrix, cardiomyocytes (CM) and endothelial cells (ECs) will be combined to simulate the native cardiac environment.
