I am an early-career Spanish historian currently working as a postdoctoral research fellow in the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies at the University of Leeds, UK. I have three years of postdoctoral experience, having previously worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of the Basque Country for two years before joining the Centre for the History of Ibero-America (CHIA) at the University of Leeds in February 2022. I received my PhD in 2019 from the University of Oviedo (Spain). My thesis received prizes from the Spanish Association for Women’s History Research (AEIHM) and the Association for Spanish and Portuguese Historical Studies. It was published in November 2022 under the title Dos en una sola carne. Matrimonio, amor y sexualidad en la España franquista (1939-1975) (Granada: Comares, 2022). I have been a visiting scholar at Rutgers University, the University of Glasgow and the University of Lisbon. In addition, I have an international MA in Gender Studies from the University of Hull (UK) and the University of Oviedo (Spain). I specialise in the history of gender, sexuality and emotions in the twentieth century, with a particular focus on Francoist Spain. Between 2019 and 2021, I was the principal investigator of a funded project to explore political violence against women in Spain. The results were published in a book titled Silenciadas pero no olvidadas. Mujeres y represión franquista en Asturias (Gijón: Orpheus Ediciones Clandestinas, 2021). I have a strong publication record, having published in leading journals such as Social History of Medicine, Contemporary European History, Ayer, Cultural History, among others. My work has received the Contemporary European History Prize 2020 and the 2016 International Society for Cultural History Prize Competition.
