Rute Luz is currently a Phd student of Electrical and Computer Engineering with focus on "Human-Robot Collaboration for Planetary Exploration" at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon. She holds a MsC Degree in Aerospace Engineering also from IST and developed her master thesis on haptic human-robot interaction at the Institute for Systems and Robotics (ISR) in collaboration with the University of Lille. Since 2018 she has been working as a researcher on her main research topic, human-robot interaction and multimodal interfaces, at ISR, which included a series of collaborations with the Sapadores Firefighters of Lisbon and the Portuguese Air Force. Additionally, she designed a teleoperation system intended to provide an immersive scuba-diving experience with an underwater ROV, in a project led by Interactive Technologies Institute (ITI). Currently, she is involved in the preparation for a mars analog mission (AMADEE-20) where the collaboration between the astronauts and rover will resort to a custom made haptic interface. Her main research interests are robotics, haptic interaction, human-robot interaction and planetary exploration.
