Vasco Diogo attends the Doctoral Program in Psychology at ISCTE-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa. He is currently a Research Fellow at the Institute of Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon. There, he conducts research on computational psychiatry and neurology, and on the biological basis of human social cognition. Recently, he completed a COST Action Short-term scientific mission at the LMU-Munich, working on the project "Multi-Site Neuroimaging Machine Learning Prediction of At-Risk Mental State Conversion to Psychosis”. In 2019, he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Behavioral Neuroscience from Northeastern University in Boston, USA. During this 5-year program, he benefited from a full-tuition merit scholarship awarded to the top 1% of the nearly 50000 applicants to the University on basis of academic achievement, leadership, and service. His academic excellence was also recognized by being placed on the College of Science Dean’s List in 2018 and 2019. During his Bachelor’s, he took a semester abroad at the University of Auckland, in New Zealand, and completed a short summer term at the Universidad de Los Andes, in Chile. He also completed three 6-month long periods of cooperative education during which he worked full-time in both research and clinical settings, and for which he was twice awarded the Northeastern University Presidential Global Scholars Award. He has also complemented his studies by earning Coursera certificates in 5 courses: Neural Networks and Deep Learning; Cluster Analysis in Data Mining; Machine Learning; NeuroHacking in R; and Principles of fMRI. Furthermore, he is proficient in the Python programming language, having written over 10,000 lines of code, and having developed FunConPy, a resting-state fMRI preprocessing pipeline in Python using FSL, AFNI, and ANTs (https://github.com/vascosa/FunConPy). His other interests include filmmaking, having worked on the crew on several short and feature-length independent films (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm8460194/), and volunteering, having a history of community service at home and abroad.
