Daniela C. V. Pereira has a MD in Medicine by Faculdade de Ciências da Saúde – Universidade da Beira Interior, Portugal (2012) and is currently PhD student and Invited Professor of Anatomic Pathology at the same institution. She is Pathologist with gastrointestinal diferentiation at Instituto Português de Oncologia de Lisboa – IPO Lisboa since 2020, where she did her residency (2015-2019). Barrett’s esophagus as well as gastroesophageal junction metaplasia/ differentiation are her main research interests. Since college, where she presented a final thesis titled Esophageal Columnar Metaplasia: from epidemiology to morphology, she has been working with Barrett´s Esophagus study group - IPO Lisboa in several multidisciplinary team projects, as co-author as well as principal investigator. She received a grant from IPO Lisboa – FAI2016 as main investigator for the project Endoscopic-histologic Characterization of Neo-gastroesophageal junction after Esophagectomy; a grant from IPO Lisboa – FAI2017 as co-author for the project Esophagus and Gastroesophageal Junction Epithelium: Study of Differentiation and Transcriptional Control During Fetal Period; a Grant from iNOV4Health 2017 as co-author for the project Depicting Barrett’s esophagus biopathogenesis and its malignant progression in three-dimensional in vitro models. She has several publish papers as co-author and first author in international peer-review journals, the majority of them related with gastrointestinal pathology and particularly Barrett’s esophagus and pre-neoplastic conditions. She also presented several posters and a few oral communications in international pathology meetings.
