I finished my BSc in Biology at the University of Porto, Portugal (2011) and a MSc in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Coimbra, Portugal (2013). Before I started my PhD, I worked for a few years in the topics of protein sorting to the plant vacuole, and the plant endomembrane system. I was also deeply invested in supervising 3 undergraduate students and was involved in the teaching of practical classes for the MSc in Molecular and Cellular Biology’s Bioimaging (2012-2015) and bioinformatics (2014) modules. I obtained my PhD in Plant Science (2021) from University NOVA of Lisbon, Portugal (2021), in a collaborative project between the Gulbenkian Science Institute (PI: Elena Baena-Gonzalez) and the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology (PI: Mark Stitt), after having secured funding from the Portuguese Foundation of Science and Technology (FCT). I have multiple oral and poster presentations in both national and international meetings and have been awarded a best poster presentation (EMBO workshop Target of Rapamycin (TOR) signalling in photosynthetic organisms, 2021). I am currently a postdoctoral research assistant at the Department of Biology, University of Oxford, UK (2022-2025), and have been an invited lecturer for the ITQB/NOVA Plants for Life PhD Programme (Metabolic Regulation curricular unit, 2023) and the FCUP MSc in Functional Plant Biology and Biotechnology (Development and Signalling curricular unit, 2024). I have recently been successful in my application to a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship, which will allow me to continue my work in Oxford until late 2026. During my professional career I have worked in multiple areas of molecular plant science, from protein sorting to energy signalling and metabolism. I have published 5 international peer-reviewed articles and 3 book chapters, receiving a total of 87 citations (h-index 4, Google Scholar). I have been invited to peer-review multiple papers for Planta.
