Ana Filipa Azevedo Campos

Filipa Campos concluded her Integrated Master in Bioengineering (specialization in Molecular Biotechnology) at Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) and ICBAS - School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in October 2021 with an overall classification of 16/20. During her studies, she carried out an internship in the Free Radicals and Antioxidants Unit (FRAU) at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto, with the aim of evaluating the anti-inflammatory activity of chalcones and styrylchromones. Thereafter, she did her Erasmus+ Internship at Institute Cochin (Université Paris Descartes) in the group of Dr. Florence Niedergang with a view to deciphering how respiratory viruses manipulate and reprogram the macrophage responses. In 2021, Filipa joined the Immune Regulation group at Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde (i3s), where she did her master thesis "Development of lung organoids as in vitro models to study infectious diseases" (classification: 20/20) within the scope of REMODEL project and under the supervision of Dr. Marta Alves da Silva and Dr. Margarida Saraiva. From January 2022, she has been a research fellow in the Bioengineered Surfaces group at i3S. Until June 2023, she was as part of the Bio2Skin Advanced project and under the supervision of Professor Cristina Martins and Dr. Cláudia Monteiro. During this period, she produced, characterized and tested in vitro polymeric nanoparticles to be incorporated into a new genereation of medical adhesives. Since July, Filipa has been working on the regulation of biofilms using gene expression modulators, under the supervision of Dr. Cláudia Monteiro.
