I hold a BSc degree in Biochemistry from the University of Minho (2022). I am, currently, an MSc student in Health Sciences at the Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS)/School of Medicine, at the University of Minho. In the concluding stage of my bachelor’s degree, I directed my academic focus toward Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), cultivating a profound interest in neurobiology and traumatic central nervous system injuries. Presently, I am developing my master’s thesis titled “Compound Library Screening for Neural Repair: Finding New Drugs for Old Problems.”, conducted under the supervision of Dr. Nuno A. Silva (ICVS/School of Medicine, University of Minho) and Dr. Maria Alice Carvalho (Chemistry Department/School of Sciences, University of Minho). My thesis' primary objective is to perform a comprehensive screening for the neural repair capabilities of a recently synthesized compound library. This screening aims to identify novel potential candidates and elucidate their mechanism of action, thereby contributing significantly to the enhancement of our comprehension of traumatic CNS injuries.
