Isabel Pastoriza-Santos. Completed the Doutoramento in N/A in 2001 by Universidade de Vigo and Licenciatura in N/A in 1997 by Universidade de Vigo. Is Principal Investigator in Universidade de Vigo - Campus Lagoas Marcosende. Published 57 articles in journals. Has 3 book(s). Has received 2 awards and/or honors. The Colloid Chemistry Group led by Dr. Isabel Pastoriza Santos is an interdisciplinary team with expertise in the various aspects of the Nanomaterials Science, from the chemical design of various types of nanoparticles and their surface modification, using a variety of synthetic approaches mainly from colloid chemistry, to their physical characterization and theoretical modelling using microscopic and spectroscopic techniques and numerical methods, to their processing into organized assemblies and complex nanostructures, and, finally, to the development of applications in the biomedical field, mainly related to sensing for detection and diagnostics, environmental science and energy. Therefore the main research lines are the following: (1) design and optimization of synthetic methods of plasmonic metal nanoparticles (Au, Ag, Pd or Pt) with well-defined size, shape, composition (pure, alloys or hybrid) and surface chemistry (2) fabrication of plasmonic organized assemblies and complex structures using different strategies layer-by-layer, microfluidics, solvent evaporation () (3) design and development of sensing platforms point of care and lab-on-a-chip based on Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering or localized surface plasmon resonance for the detection of pollutants, biomolecules or the analysis of biological processes. (4) design and development of multifunctional plasmonic-based nanostructures for imaging and treatment. (4) design and development of metal-based nanostructures for catalysis and photocatalysis. The Colloid Chemistry Group combines different cutting-edge technologies in interdisciplinary fields such as Chemistry, Materials Science, Nanotechnology and Biology with the aim of developing new nanoplatforms which will provide impactful results to the Spanish and European research, technological, development and innovation system.
