To date, he has worked in 4 international laboratories (Sweden, Canada, Portugal and the UK), published 47 articles in international scientific journals (12 with first authorship and 9 with senior authorship; 22 papers in the past 5 years), reaching an h-index of 31 with a total citation of 3139 (source: Web of Science). He supervised 4 postdoctoral research fellows and co-supervised 4 PhD theses. He secured 9 grants as the Principal Investigator and 3 grants as the Co-Investigator (total grants= 3.3 million euros). He has received 2 national awards (one Swedish and one Chinese) and recently was awarded as an Outstanding Editorial Board Member by the Journal of Chronic Diseases and Translational Medicine. He is a member of the editorial boards of 3 international academic journals (Diabetes, Biology and the Journal of Chronic Diseases and Translational Medicine) and is a regular reviewer for international scientific journals (e.g., Cell Systems, Cell Reports and Diabetes) and research funding bodies (e.g., MRC, BBSRC and Stanford Diabetes Research Center). He has been invited to give seminars/lectures at international conferences (e.g., European Association for the Study of Diabetes Annual Meeting, American Diabetes Annual Meeting and European Society for Clinical Investigation Annual Scientific Meeting) or research institutes (e.g., Cornell University and Gothenburg University). He is a regular organizer of the scientific seminars held at the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism and he participated in one BRC-hosted patient meeting. He is a member of the organising committee of the annual CIBB meeting (2023). He works in the area of Medical and Health Sciences with an emphasis on Basic Medicine and Physiology in particular.
